The Healthiest Fish To Eat

It seems like as a society, we’re finally turning over a new page and investing into our bodies. This is great news for any organic, non-GMO, sulfate free companies out there. At Revital Outdoors we believe in extending the average years that avid outdoorsmen spend outside. For this, we believe in prioritizing your health and overall being outdoors, or not. Unfortunately, there is a lot of contradictory information online, leaving us confused on what to believe. Therefore, let’s take a deep dive into the healthiest fish that you can eat, and why.

  1. Salmon

Not just any kind of salmon though, Wild-Caught Alaskan Salmon. This is due to the fact that it’s low in contaminants, including mercury. Additionally, they come from very well managed fisheries. As you probably know, they contain more than 1,500mg of omega-3s per serving.

This also applies for Wild-Caught Alaskan Canned Salmon. While this might raise a brow, buying salmon in a can is a much more affordable way to place into your diet. However, with this make sure you’re checking the label to ensure quality out of your fish.

This is great if you’re looking for a meal to really fill you up. It’s important as avid outdoorsmen, that we are nourishing our bodies every chance we can. We go through extreme conditions and sometimes aren’t eating for hours on end. So, cod ranks very highly in healthy fish you can consume.

  1. Tuna

Loved by many, tuna can be enjoyed either canned or fresh. You might get overwhelmed on the tuna aisle, as there are many options. When picking fresh tuna, pick a piece that’s glossy and smells ocean-fresh. Plus, tuna is easy to prepare. Literally, just a quick sear over high heat! Keep note: it’s recommended that you limit yellowfin, albacore, and ahi tuna due to high mercury content. When buying canned tuna, look for “chunk light.” Light tuna can almost always be guaranteed to have the lower-mercury species called skipjack.
